IntelliFlo Pool Pumps = Jumbo Energy Savings

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I can’t say enough about the insane amount of money customers save with the Intelliflo pool pump. Current pool owners who have bought the Intelliflo pool pump are kicking themselves for not purchasing one of these pool pumps earlier. It’s a wonder how we went so long without a pool pump that truly saves customers money. Now you can buy the giant flat screen TV with the money you save in wasted pool energy cost!

Here are some of the pros with the Intelliflo pool pump:

  1. Karate chops energy savings by 30 to 90% or MORE.
  2. Reduces hideous noise down to half a human whisper.
  3. Adjusts for voltage irregularities and overheating.

When I first heard about the Intelliflo pool pump at the last Pentair meeting, I thought to myself, “another so-called ‘energy savings’ electronic device…really?” For some reason, I decided to listen up and hear what the pool product rep had to say about Intelliflo and why in the world it is so great. What actually makes this pool pump energy efficient?

For starters, I found that it has to do with the pool pump being a “variable speed” pump. What does that mean to you? This is the first of its kind in the swimming pool industry. The 2 speed pumps that have been around for the past decade or so are not true variable speed pool pumps. Why you ask? Because the 2 speed pump is preset for ONLY 2 speeds. It will not overcome the exact friction loss for your pool equipment plumbing. The variable speed pool pump (i.e. the Intelliflo pool pump) will. Why? The Intelliflo pool pump has the ability to run at whatever programmable speed you set it to, ranging from 400 to 3450RPM. This allows you to overcome the friction loss design within your pool equipment. Now you can preset your pool filtration to run at the necessary pressures to filter you pool water. Then, you can set a separate setting for your spa jets to achieve maximum spa jet performance without running your pump at a higher than necessary RPM which, in turn, is a total waste.

Secondly, the Intelliflo pool pump motor is designed with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, otherwise known as PMSM. In non-pool professional talk, these are basically earth magnetic s with in the pool pump motor itself. The PMSM uses the same technology that is used in the popular hybrid cars seen on the road these days. Why is this cool? Because PMSM will simply reduce wasted energy. Energy in its rawest form is “heat”. Older and more traditional pool pump motors have fins and vent holes around the motor to expel any wasted heat that is produced to prevent the pool pump motor from overheating. The Intelliflo pool pump motor does not have any vent hole on it because this motor coverts any heat back into energy that is used for spinning the pool pump impeller. That is truly awesome!

This post just scratches the surface of the capabilities of the Intelliflo variable speed pool pump.

You can find more information pertaining to this variable speed pump or others on our website.

Have a great day!
